AD PETRI SEDEM 2023.
DEO GRATIAS !
Deo gratias! The 2023 pilgrimage took place magnificently despite the prohibition to celebrate a mass according to the usus antiquior in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
But Providence has strongly supported us, and isn’t that in fact a sign? Despite the rain forecast, magnificent weather made all stages of our pilgrimage bright.
Our attachment to the traditional liturgy was duly noted by many by-standers and pilgrims, as well as inevitably by some of the many synodal fathers who were in Rome at that same time as us (not to mention Cardinal Braz e Aviz, witness to our procession, and members of the Curia at the windows of Piazza Pio XII). Let us pray that our testimony will help them integrate us into their vision of the famous “Todos”.
Despite the vicissitudes of the times, we will remember with emotion our priests in Saint Peter's Basilica: first our time of prayer in front of the tomb of the Apostle, and then the singing of sext at the altar of the Chair.
Our mission today is to prepare our 13th pilgrimage, which will take place from October 25 to 27, 2024.
Let us pray and act, making all endeavours so that we will be there in even greater numbers with representatives from the 95 countries where the traditional liturgy of the Roman Church is currently celebrated. I invite the 19 associations constituting the Cœtus Internationalis Summorum Pontificum to make this work of prayer and testimony known in their countries throughout the worls, and to promote it for the greater glory of God and Peace in the Church.
