11th Pilgrimage to Rome

PEREGRINATIO AD PETRI SEDEM MMXXII

About us

Each year, from 2012 onward, the representatives of the People “Summorum Pontificum” bring together in Rome faithful, priests and religious from all over the world. Their aim is that of being part of the new evangelization at the rhythm of the extraordinary form of the roman rite – i.e. the Latin and Gregorian Mass, celebrated according to the last edition of the Tridentine Missal published by Pope John XXIII.

During the three-day pilgrimage, its participants have the opportunity of witnessing the eternal youth of the traditional liturgy. Friday, the pilgrims gather in the Basilica of Santa Maria “ad Martyres” (Pantheon), where they assist at solemn Vespers. Saturday, after a time of Eucharistic adoration and a procession throughout the streets of the centre of Rome, a solemn Pontifical Mass is celebrated in St. Peter’s Basilica. The pilgrimage ends Sunday, feast of Christ the King, with a Mass celebrated in the church of the Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini by the prelate who accompanied the faithful during those days of devotion and prayer.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR PRIESTS PARTICIPATING IN THE PILGRIMAGE

Due to the almost complete elimination of private Masses in St. Peter's and the difficulties that may arise in other parishes, priests who wish to celebrate in the following two churches during their stay in Rome are asked to book their "turn" in advance:

- At the Trinità dei Pellegrini, Piazza della Trinità dei Pellegrini, by contacting the sacristan: sagrestia@fssp.it or +393482637981

- At Santi Celso e Giuliano, Via del Banco di Santo Spirito 5, by contacting Canon Landais: chn.landais@icrsp.org

TRIBUTE TO BENEDICT XVI FATHER OF SUMMORUM PONTIFICUM APOSTLE OF LITURGICAL PEACE

Dear friends,

It is essential to remember that our Ad Petri Sedem pilgrimage was launched in 2012 inspired on an idea of Msgr. Nicola Bux, which was then warmly approved by Cardinal Ranjith, in order to thank Pope Benedict XVI for having published the motu proprio Summorum Pontificum, which opportunely recalled that the traditional liturgy had never been prohibited and that it was a liturgical and spiritual treasure for the Church.

From the moment we learned of the death of Pope Emeritus, it seemed of the utmost importance to us that representatives of our Cœtus Internationalis Summorum Pontificum, CISP meet in Rome to attend the funeral of the man who had worked so much for the Peace and Reconciliation within the church.

We know that you were in many joining with your prayers those of us who were there. After attending the ceremony in Saint Peter's Square, we met for a militant dinner in Piazza del Panthéon, which gathered Monika Reinschmitt (Pro Missa tridentina - Germany), Patrick Banken (Una Voce France), João Silveira (Senza Pagare – Portugal) and Christian Marquant (Paix Liturgique – France). There, we were able to discuss the past but also the preparation of the next pilgrimage which will take place from October 27 to 29, 2023, where we hope to be numerous and to meet many of you.

Wishing you a happy and very holy new year, here are some photos of our day spent in Rome.

In union of prayer and friendship,

Christian Marquant
